What Exactly Is EPCOT?#
EPCOT is unique in Disney World, it was created in the early 1980's as a place that celebrates human achievement, technological innovation, and global culture. It's really split into 2 parks laid out in a figure of eight. The bottom half, celebrating 3 topics:
- World Celebration - the festival centre and hub of the park (we will talk about festivals later)
- World Nature -
- World Discovery -
Within each of these there are pavilions, massive show builds which contain the attractions and restaurants.
The top half of the figure of eight is World Celebration, a collection of countries which lets you experience the culture of 11 countries in one day.
Navigation Strategy
With the park being so big, it's best to have a strategy and wear comfortable shoes. All of our strategies are based around getting their early, but be careful World Showcase doesn't open until 11. You don't want to have a lightening lane for Remy in France first thing, it's a long walk there and a long walk back.
- Start early in Future World when crowds are lighter
- Move to World Showcase at 11am when it opens
- Use the Friendship Boats to cross the lagoon and rest your feet
- Walk clockwise around World Showcase for optimal traffic flow
- End at Spaceship Earth for night photos
Festivals
EPCOT has become synonymise with festivals. There are 4 main festivals:
- Festival of the Arts
- Flower and Garden (my favourite)
- Food and wine
- Festival of the holidays
These festivals typically stretch out over the entire year and you are more than likely to be there when there is one on. Each festival will have unquie feed booths and experiences happening throughout the park - check the My Disney Experience map, or pick up a festival guide map when you are there.
The Must-Do Attractions (Your Priority List)#
Absolute Essentials
1. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Disney's newest roller coaster featuring a brilliant soundtrack and smooth ride system. This is the hardest ticket to get - book Individual Lightning Lane at 7am.

3. Test Track Design your own car, then test it at high speeds. Like being on a futuristic Top Gear segment. Use single rider line for shorter waits.
